HYDRALAB III Workshop for Young Researchers in Hannover
Thursday 4th February 2010
This workshop is part of the final meeting of Hydralab III and it will provide an opportunity for young researchers to exchange experiences of their work on experimental hydraulics and the opportunity to discuss key issues in physical modelling. Any young researchers in the field of experimental hydraulics are encouraged to participate and we will be inviting participants from previous Hydralab young researchers’ workshops.
For the workshop, young researchers are invited to give short presentations (10-15 minutes) based on their current or planned research. We would particularly encourage participants to give presentations on one of the following themes:
- Novel approaches to experimental hydraulics (For example, new instrumentation or measurement techniques you have used, applying new methods in experiments)
- Problems encountered in experimental hydraulics (This meeting will give you an opportunity to discuss problems encountered in your experiments and through discussion perhaps find new solutions)
- Experiments relating to the research themes in Hydralab III (Scaling and Analysis and New instrumentation for Dynamic bed TestS (SANDS) and Composite Modelling of the Interactions Between Beaches and Structures (CoMIBBS))
The workshop will be organised around presentations given by participants with ample opportunity for discussion. This will also be an excellent opportunity for young researchers to widen their network of contacts by meeting other young researchers and participants in Hydralab III.
All participants in the Young Researchers Workshop are also invited to attend the conference dinner on Tuesday 2nd February 2010 and the Stakeholder Dissemination Meeting which will highlight the scientific progress and main results from the work undertaken in HYDRALAB III on Wednesday 3rd February.
The number of places available is limited, but the event will be free to all participants with Hydralab reimbursing the costs of travel, accommodation and subsistence. To register for the meeting, please complete the form on the registration form giving your contact details and a title with a brief abstract for your proposed presentation by 1st January 2010.
If your research is at an early stage and you feel unable to give a presentation on your work, there may be places available to attend, but please can you submit a brief description of your research interests instead of a title and abstract.
Please realize that, in case of more applications than places available, a selection of young researchers will be made.
