Networking activities - E-pool of unique measurement instruments

Electronic pool (E-pool) of unique measurement instruments

This E-pool is a web-based database containing details of unique instrumentation that HYDRALAB (or other EU) institutes have developed. It also includes instruments that are rare and, for the sake of completeness, includes unique and rare instruments that the owners are not prepared to lend to other institutions on this list.
It is envisaged that these instruments will be "one-offs" devised for novel specialised measurements. They therefore require a high degree of technical support from the provider. The user will be expected to re-imburse all the expenses of the lender.

The database is structured so that details of an instrument can be interrogated over the web.

The aim of the database is to improve the efficient use of large-scale infrastructure. The benefits of the E-Pool are:

  • The exchange of instruments and technical support will increase cooperation between European organisations;
  • Wider use of expensively-developed specialised instruments will maximise the benefits derived from European investment in devising new instruments;
  • Research times and costs would be reduced by not re-inventing instrumentation.

Entering the details of an instrument

Researchers and developers can add instruments to the E-pool by selecting the link "Call for instrument details".

Searching E-pool

Researchers search the E-pool of rare and unique instruments by selecting the link "search the E-pool".
